Cultural Competency is not a destination. It is a journey. Let's travel together.
Below is a list of sample trainings offered by Dr. Edmondson...
Cultural Intelligence (CQ) Workshop (for Companies and Churches) Drive...Knowledge...Strategy...Action are the four capabilities of cultural intelligence (CQ).
CQ, defined as a person's capability to function effectively in situations characterized by cultural diversity, is an essential skill for effective engagement with our neighbor five miles or 5,000 miles away. Like cultural competency, cultural intelligence has no fixed end point. Instead, CQ offers insights about individuals' capabilities to serve within multi-cultural situations, engage in cross-cultural interactions, and perform in culturally diverse work groups. Dr. Edmondson is a Certified CQ Facilitator. She offers a one to two day workshop that includes an analysis of participants' CQ assessments and the development of participant and organizational specific plans to enhance and bolster CQ.
Intercultural Development and Conflict Group Debriefing (for Companies and Churches)
Aptly and warmly using a variety of pedagogical techniques including research analysis, storytelling, and group interaction, Dr. Edmondson assists participants in gaining a greater understanding of their personal and organizational capacity to engage cultural difference in meaningful, productive, and adaptive ways. Participants complete the Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI®) which assesses intercultural competence—the capability to shift cultural perspective and appropriately adapt behavior to cultural differences and commonalities. Intercultural competence has been identified as a critical capability in a number of studies focusing on overseas effectiveness of international sojourners, international business adaptation and job performance, international student adjustment, international transfer of technology and information, international study abroad, and inter-ethnic relations within nations. Dr. Edmondson is a Qualified Administrator of the IDI and she has applied the IDI in corporate, non-profit, government, faith-based, and educational contexts. In addition, more than 60 published articles and book chapters as well as over 66 Ph.D. dissertations have been completed using the IDI.The Intercultural Development Inventory is a 50-item questionnaire accessed online that takes about 15–20 minutes to complete. A wide range of organizations and educational institutions use the IDI (click here to view a number of organizations using the IDI). Additionally, the IDI includes up to six (6) customized questions that can be added to the questionnaire. In addition, the IDI includes contexting questions that allow respondents to describe their intercultural experiences in terms of (a) their cross-cultural goals, (b) the challenges that they face navigating cultural differences, (c) critical (intercultural) incidents that they face when they encounter cultural differences, and (d) the ways they navigate those cultural differences. These questions allow individuals to reflect on how their IDI results relate to their cross-cultural goals and challenges, increasing cultural self understanding, and enabling improved accomplishment of key cross-cultural goals.
Finally, participants also gain insight into their own cultural conflict style by taking the Intercultural Conflict Style Inventory.
By completing the Intercultural Conflict Style Inventory, individuals will:
